Green Light
Lorde tweeted a day before her song 'Green Light' was released "I am so proud of this song. it's very different, and kinda unexpected. it's complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you DANCE". It's a song about heartbreak and closure which many people relate to.
Despite just turning 21, Lorde has collected an amazing array of awards for her music, her track 'Royals' made her the youngest solo artist to achieve a number-one selling single in the USA since Tiffany in 1987. But the singer-songwriter has humble beginnings. She was discovered at the age of 12 by A&R representative Scott Maclachlan through a video of her performing. He saw a huge potential in her, and upon meeting was drawn to her mature attitude and unique talent, which he deemed worthy of pursuing. She was signed to A&R for development and spent the next few years learning songwriting and improving her vocals.
After the whirlwind that was her debut album she moved back to her home in New Zealand and went on a temporary hiatus. She speaks of how being in New York and Los Angeles for the majority of her teenage years had the potential to be overwhelming and she needed a break to decide what she wanted to say with her next album. Her time off was spent crafting a new sound, and going through personal development, until March 2017 when 'Green Light' was released. In November she gifted us with her sophomore album 'Melodrama'.
Maison Margiela jacket, £1,340 / Topshop velvet pants, £51 / Block-heel shoes, £45 / Prada handbag, £2,080 / Dolce Gabbana pink jewelry / Lipstick
I love the mix of textures in this set. The jacket is faux fur and the burnt orange colour pairs well with the velvet trousers. More pink and purple tones are seen in the earrings, lipstick, and bag, with a simple pair of black heels to bring it all together. A smokey eye or winged liner would go perfectly with this combination of pieces.
